Most leather items are personalized by foiling or embossing. Today we’re going to talk about types of foil as that is the material we use to personalize our iPhone leather cases. There are many types of hot stamping foil available on the market and they come in a huge range of textures, colors and quality.

Metallic foils replicate the look of metals, such as gold, silver or rose gold. These are the most popular options for personalizing leather phone cases.
Pigment foils come in a range of matte or flat non-metallic colors. These are great for stamping text or logos on plastics and papers.
Scratch-Off foils are used to conceal PINs, prizes, etc. They do not adhere to the surface permanently so an user could scratch off the foil to reveal the hidden information.
Pearl foils are transparent and have a pearlescent shine. They are primarily used for elegant stationery like wedding invitations and business cards.
Holographic foils are used for holograms that are applied on credit cards, security seals, and ID cards.

Apart from the general foil types mentioned above, foils come in various quality and chemical properties that give them various kinds of releases, definitions and adhesions.
